There is a great new store in Culpeper VA. This is mine and Ben's home town. For those of you that do not know Culpeper is between Manassas and Charlottesville. The owner is awesome and is a gamer himself. They are currently running Magic events and would like to expand into Warhammer fantasy and 40k. He is open to other game systems as well. I would really like for everyone to start thinking about attending any future events that will be hosted here. He is offering drumroll....... "prize support". The prize support will be very generous given the low to no buy in cost of the event.
This venue could be a great opportunity for all of us to have some great event experience, while not having to drive several hours. Ben will be developing a fantasy tourney in the near future, and I will be developing something for 40k.

For example:
At their next magic event they are giving away a 250 dollar 1st place prize, and 50 packs of cards for 2-5 for a free event.

This place is great and he wants to grow the event venues. He has a store and the store space beside his (1100 sf) so there is plenty of room for gaming. He is in the process of putting together tables and terrain. He will support any event as long as we run it. He has made attempts to do a NOVA prequalifier, but they wont for whatever reason. I will be contacting Colonial peeps to get pre-quals for both Chantilly and Culpeper. They have already developed 10 to 15 people playing Warhammer on a regular basis and the place was packed when Andy and I were there yesterday. We got to "put on a show" for many of the on-lookers and hopefully helped generate a buzz. Several were just starting out and looking for pointers. He is offering a League similar to what we had in the Pyramid. While in the league, all product is 15% off. We had about a 30 minute meeting with him and learned a lot.
I will be running a 2250 Fantasy event there in late May. No buy in necessary for this as the Owner is picking up the tab. _________________ Thanks,

Compared to GPC maybe, but not much of a drive actually. Will be good to support a guy willing to support us.
Makes you wonder what GPC does will their support and why don't we get any? _________________ Joey

If you look up Comics and Gaming on Facebook I believe they have their address listed. I am glad to see that people are already taking notice of this post. This is what us older gamers have missed over the years, and yes what has GPC been doing with their prize support?

He seemed very shocked. Again this game store is a gamers' store.

The truly weird part about this store I think can only be appreciated by Ben and myself. At one point in time the gaming community in our home town was like 6 people. Now this vast community has sprung up. There was more people in that store than I have seen in any game store in northern Virginia in years. Ben is going to be the godfather of warhammer in central Virginia.

Any chance on him serving beer? Lol in all seriousness sounds like a great place to play at. I have always believed that is a store runs monthly or by-monthly events it will in the longrun create a bigger player pool/store support. What are the days for the league, how will it be ran, what days? I would be willing to support any store that is friendly to players. And all the stores around this area since I moved here have been great. _________________ 2016

Check out their Facebook league for the events. As far as Beer there is a Buffalo Wild wings right across the street.

We discussed several scenarios to build the gaming community. As this guy was a long ago IFL'er, he is familiar with several of our "Old Guard" that made the club awesome and knows how to have fun. He wants to market the hobby to buid it instead of looking to squeeze every penny out out of us, so that is awesome for us gamers. As he and Andy discussed, Warhammer people are impulse buyers. They wont buy if they dont come in and see a great deal and community to support their purchase.
We discussed holding monthly events, paint shops, etc. We discussed partnering with other area stores to create our own "league" and points systems. Basically stores alternate hosting events and players accumulate points towards the overall champion at the end of the season. Possibly that person wins a free pass to a Regional or National event.
Beer...hmmm....maybe not there, yet....but there are several bars very close by....Ruby Tuesdays across the parking lot, Chili's and Glory Days 1/4 mile away. _________________ Thanks,

Haha beer is an after thought. Honestly it really for me comes down to the community as you said is built upon by playing with friends at the store. More than likely I will play where I feel most comfortable at. But quality of play is also VERY important to me. And the harder the opponents the better because I like to go to GT's.
I really like the idea of an inter-store league but not sure how that will work because some store owners are not as open to sharing their customer base. But in my humble opinion what they dont realize is that if they dont provide the events to draw their customers in on a daily basis and another store does they will lose them in the long run to another store that does. I am sure all of us at some point or another have moved to playing at a farther store just because of the customer service and quality of service over a closer store.
Personally if we could start a inter store league that would help expand the hobby in our area, would improve the quality of our players for when we do travel outside the state to play and provide more impulse buys to the stores.
Ill check out their facebook page. _________________ 2016

As for the level of play, he wants to start off "slow" with the competitiveness of the events so that it doesn't scare off newbies. Basically he asked me to put together a small points, everything allowed event first. See how they get their feet wet first and make adjustments as we go along.
The inter-store is something that I have wanted to do long ago when Don "Mondo" discussed the idea over beverages after a Games Day event. I know that Games Parlor is in as it is up to us to to put it on...They are just a place with tables basically. Game Vault, Culpeper C&G, Gainesville C&G, there is a store in Charlottesville that I can get in touch with....there is Brian's store in Martinburg, West Virginia...and I'm sure there are others, trying to keep that 2 hour and under travel time theme. _________________ Thanks,

Not really saying I just want to play cut-throat Warhammer, what I ment by it is that when we have more people playing in competative or semi-competative the region as a whole will get better helping promote more traveling players. And better preperation for those who do travel. _________________ 2016
