Posted: Tue Jun 17, 2014 2:09 pm Post subject: October 40K Halloween Event Idea |
|
|
EDIT: We're now shooting for THIS October, 2014.
I'd like to run a Halloween-themed 40K Apocalypse game this October. This would feature various things, such as...
Halloween terrain: Graveyard, Haunted House, Spooky Forest, etc.
Classic Universal Monsters: Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, the Wolfman, the Mummy, etc. The monsters would be split between the teams.
Tricks and Treats. One-use things that hinder the other team (tricks) or boost your team (treats).
Costume Points: You get bonus Victory Points for coming in costume.
Is anyone interested in playing in this event?
Is anyone interested in helping me put this together and run it? _________________ Nassir Ahmad

Awesome. Are you going to be at the Game Parlor this Saturday? We can discuss ideas then. _________________ Nassir Ahmad

Sign you up to play, volunteer to make stuff and help run the event, or both? _________________ Nassir Ahmad

Ok. I need a line on where to get minis for the Classic Universal Monsters. Any ideas? _________________ Nassir Ahmad

Reaper Minis. No questions. If you can think of it, they probably have a mini for it. They have some nice mummies, werewolves, and vampires.
They're also cheap. _________________ Chickhammer

I'll look into it. Thanks.
What about building a graveyard? I'm thinking foam core tombstones and walls, static grass, some dead trees, and zombie hands reaching up. _________________ Nassir Ahmad

Find me a plastic mold for tombstones and grave and I can make you a bunch of plaster ones, I have like 5-10 lbs of plaster of Paris _________________ WOC 7-2-2 |

Check the Reaper Bones line. Dirt cheap and still good quality once you get then set the way you want.
As to terrain, the Garden of Moor box from GW is really friggin nice. It is an old world style vs 40k, but beautiful for the cost. _________________ Tone on the internet can be a bitch. Honest, I am not Nerd Raging. Well, maybe not. |

The Garden of Morr looks quite nice, but it also looks rather small. How much space does it cover? _________________ Nassir Ahmad

That would be great, thanks.
Ashley, are you going to be at the Game Parlor on Saturday? We can discuss ideas, then I'll email what we come up with to Kevin to get his input. _________________ Nassir Ahmad

Excellent. Thanks, Phil.
It looks like between some stuff I've already picked up from Michaels, the gravestones from Renedra, and possibly the Garden of Morr, we should have the graveyard covered.
That leaves the Spooky Wood and Haunted House to tackle. Plus anything else we come up with. _________________ Nassir Ahmad

Just duct tape her to your back while you rummage through your stuff.
The Mantic Gravestalkers kit looks perfect. Not only the gravestones, but also the zombies and ghouls.
Also, I just check Reaper, and I can order Dracula, the Wolfman, Frankenstein's Monster, and the Mummy for around $25. Excellent. _________________ Nassir Ahmad

I can put together a spooky table with spooky forests and graveyards. _________________ The Hammer Dialectic - Thoughts on Warhammer, Professional Wrestling, and Dialectical Materialism.
