Halloween Apocalypse 2014: Monster Mash!
This is a 40K Apocalypse event.
This is it! The Wolfman and Frankenstein’s Monster have had it with Dracula’s crap! It’s time to kick him back into the grave. But the Prince of Darkness and his buddy, the Mummy, won’t go down without a fight. These classic monsters have scoured the stars to muster their forces, and now the battle begins!
This will be an Apocalypse game, happening Saturday, November 1, 2014 (the day after Halloween) at 11am at the Game Parlor.
Forces
There will be two sides: The Good Guys, who are allied with the Wolfman, and the Bad Guys, who are allied with Dracula. Reply to this post to let me know…
Who you are
Which army you’ll be playing, and
What side you want to be on.
I’ll try to keep the team alliances fluffy, but in the end, we’re here to have fun, so having even numbers of players on the teams is more important.
Army Composition
2000 points per player
0-1 Lord of War unit per player
0-1 Titan per side. Transcendant C'tan, Tyranid Bio-Titans, and Ork Stompas count as Titans. Coordinate with your teammates to decide who’s going to bring the Titan, if anyone.
The Good Guys will get the Wolfman and Frankenstein’s Monster
The Bad Guys will get Dracula and the Mummy
Rules for Dracula, the Mummy, the Wolfman, and Frankenstein’s Monster will be provided at the game.
Costumes
It’s Halloween! Wear a costume and you’ll get either a Treat, which helps you, or a Trick, which hinders the enemy.
Strategic Assets
Strategic Assets may not be chosen. Instead, each player who wears a costume will receive a Trick or a Treat. Tricks hamper the enemy, while Treats boost your units.
Finest Hour and Divine Intervention
These rules will not be used.
Psychic Powers
Blessings and Maledictions may not be cast on Superheavy Vehicles or Gargantuan Creatures.
Invisibility Nerf
All normal shooting at invisible models is at BS 1.
Invisible models, get a 4+ Invulnerable Save against blast and template weapons.
Objectives for the Good Guys
Destroy Dracula: 3 pts.
Destroy the Mummy: 2 pts.
Objectives for the Bad Guys
Destroy the Wolfman: 3 pts.
Destroy Frankenstein’s Monster: 2 pts.
General Objectives
Haunted Houses: 2 pts. each at the break, 3 pts. each at the end of the game
Tower of Terror: 2 pts. at the break, 3 pts. at the end of the game
Objective Markers in the Spooky Wood and Graveyard: 2 pts. at the break, 3 pts. at the end of the game
Destroy a Superheavy Vehicle or Gargantuan Creature: 1 pt., even if it later returns to the game.
Timed Turns
Turns will be timed, with each phase receiving a certain amount of minutes for completion.
Turn Breakdown:
Strategize: 5 mins.
Movement: 5 mins.
Psychic: 5 mins.
Shooting: 10 mins.
Assault: 10 mins.
Total: 35 mins.
Timeline
11:00am-12:00pm Set up terrain and deploy, pass out Tricks & Treats
12:00-1:30 Turn 1
1:30-3:00 Turn 2
3:00-3:30 Break - Add up Victory Points
3:30-5:00 Turn 3
5:00-6:30 Turn 4

Entry Fee: $10
The collected entry fees will be donated to Scares That Care, a charity that benefits sick children. If you’d like to make a donation in addition to the entry fee, feel free to do so.

One more rule I forgot to add.
All Troops units get the Objective Secured special rule. I encourage players to bring large amounts of infantry to this game. Apocalypse isn't just about huge tanks and giant robots; it's about hordes of soldiers, as well. _________________ Nassir Ahmad

I haven't played a game over 1850 pts since 5th edition, so I honestly don't have 3,000 points of Wolves. Fully kitted out, and including my Knight, I don't even have 2,500 pts assembled. _________________ Chickhammer

I could lower it to 2000 points per player. What do you think? _________________ Nassir Ahmad

Also, please indicate the game system in your post or subject. At 3000 pts I got excited until I realized it was 40K. _________________ Thanks,

Ok. I've added "40K" to the subject line and changed the points to 2000 pts. per player.
I've been working on this idea for months, and I really think it's going to be fun. We've got special characters and terrain just for this game, the money goes to charity, and you win a bag of candy! C'mon, everybody, let's play some 40K! _________________ Nassir Ahmad

I'll be there. I have an Armorcast Reaver titan I'll be bringing along with my Crimson Fists Space Marines.
As far as sides go... I'm on the side that the Emperor is on. _________________ John L.

Hey, guys! I've added a list of known participants. If you're not on the list and you want to play, please post here or PM me.
I've also updated the Titan rules to indicate what counts as a Titan that doesn't have the word "Titan" in the unit name. If there are any questions on that, let me know. _________________ Nassir Ahmad

Can anybody give me a ride on Nov. 1? I just found out my wife will need the car that day. I'll need lots of trunk space. _________________ Nassir Ahmad

I've got a mid-size car. Aside from a case for my miniatures, my back seat and trunk will be empty.
If that sounds like enough space, I'll be able to pick you up.
Send me a PM with the address if you're interested. _________________ John L.

Army Modifications
I'm making the following edits to the armies.
Point Value: 3,000 points per player.
I originally lowered it to 2,000 so Ahsley could play, and I thought there would be more people signing up. However, since there's only going to be six of us, I think 3,000 points per player is reasonable. Anyone who can't run a 3000 point force can give their remaining points to their teammates.
Titans: Each side will get one Warhound and one Reaver titan for free. No additional Titans may be added.
Between Kevin's Warhound, John's Reaver, and Jamie's Reaver and Warhound, we can make sure the titan sides are evenly matched. Also, making the Titans free will mean that nobody loses half their army by Turn 2. _________________ Nassir Ahmad

Hey guys,
This is Tim and I'd be game for this. I can bring 3000 points of Ultramarines but no LoW. From the list right now it looks like the teams are even but let me know if there's room. |

There's always room for one more!
Bad Guys, can you crank out another 3000 points to even things up? If not, we can put Tim on your team, and Good Guys can muster some more forces. Let me know ASAP! _________________ Nassir Ahmad
