For those planning to attend, I sent a message to the organizers asking for clarification about the neutral models in some of the scenarios (I.e., chimera in scenario 1, Gary/Mel/Tom in scenario 2, etc).
For purposes of deployment, those models do NOT count as enemy models, meaning that you can deploy scouts within 12 inches of them and vanguard to within 12 inches of them before the first turn.
Since my armies tend to rely on scouting and vanguard, I was keenly interested in the response to this question. For those armies without flyers, you may want to think about how you intend to navigate around these obstacles (or blow through them). I can see armies with big blocks getting tripped up on these guys getting if they don't consider them ahead of time.

I think we need to practice using the scenarios so we get used to that.
Its a little harder to use the cards since we don't know what we will have available on any but the first game, maybe randomly select one. |

I agree on the practice. If I can get my stuff painted in time and get the other forces to align, maybe I can get back out to get in another practice game.

For Colonial I radomly tossed two card to symbolize earlier games then picked from the remaining. Definitely should practice it because I still forgot
