ATTENTION: The $40 entry fee ends TODAY. Also, when making payment via Paypal, PLEASE click FAMILY and FRIENDS. They charge $0.46 for each $40.00 transaction. So please click GIFT to F&F when sending so that it is not for a transaction for services or goods. Thank you very much.

I might be there Friday. Orcs vs empire is quite possibly the funest warhammer game you can have.

ATTENTION PLAYERS!!!

Please make sure that you have used the correct version when writing your army lists. Please make sure that you are using version 7.0 for Rule Book and version 7.1 for Army List building. Follow the links in the first page of this post. I'm finding errors/discrepencies in the army lists that I'm reviewing.

Thanks.

Thx Phil. It was a lot of fun. Disappointed in the turnout, but with all the systems flip flopping and people not know where to go and which system to play, it's not too bad. Maybe next year it will be more settled and we get an much better turnout. But with all that said it was fun, terrain and tables turned out great and I think everyone had a good time. Everyone enjoyed the Martinsburg store as well, they have great people and an awesome store too.

Maybe you can make the next one Phil Wink

To piggy back on Joey's reply...it was a great event. The store is awesome! Lots of room, clean, friendly, a loading ramp, big screen TV to watch the Skins lose along with me....snack/drink machine for quick and easy refreshments, etc etc etc. Dave is really accomodating and WANTS to be involved with promoting the games (plural) and helping the player (a little different approach than some store Owners).
Joey and Gene did a fantastic job on the terrain and we ran Gene crazy with the job of TO'ing and Rules Judge.
My takes on CGL running an event like this in the future would be that we come up with a more club personal Painting Rubric. Oh, and the large Dry Erase board for showing how deployments were to be was a huge plus. Also, if we continue running events, which I think we really should, we can hold many small events in order to build the confidence back in the community on the game systems. We can rotate the venues now that we have the terrain and tables necessary to do this. I'm a convert to 9th Age now. I was really impressed. There are a few tweeks that they need to address and according to the 9th Age forums, they ARE aware of these (Parry).
On the way the game plays, it really felt like Warhammer which is awesome to me. I've played this and only this system for 18 years so for me to feel comfortable in the transition is really important for me. There is a little learning curve (like the way cannons work now) but it was the same process for me when 6th Edition changed to 7th and 8th. Most of the lists were the same, but with some different combos. Phil's 12 Ushabti unit was awesome to me. When did you ever see that before?!? An Empire army with horde infantry and no regular Knights?!? I didn't even dent those Imperial Hordes. The Magic Lores have a familiar feel, but do have different combos with the new "attribute" rules which is really cool. Being able to give my Spawn +1 strength and +1 attack helped me win a combat that led to a game win. HUGE that small spells were important and the #6 spell (for me) actually cost me the game. (Brain fart of mass proportion). My only gripes are with the Game wide Parry Rule that is currently written. The -1 to hit is way too powerful across the board and especially when combined with elite units like Dwarf Honor Guard or Chaos Warriors. The Dwarfs need a change in that they should not have impact hits. Either give them impact hits or give them the +1 strength on the charge...not both, its stupid. Shield wall for dwarfs is tough, but I don't really have a problem with that other than a complaint which is really just whining due to jealousy. Embarassed Infernal Dwarfs are fine with the exception of the Death Trains. Not sure what they are called now, but the 2d6 S8 impacts and then grinds and then the earthshaking rules, and then the high toughness, and then the high armor save....etc....TOO MUCH. S6, T6, AS of 2+ will be fine please. Rolling Eyes
So, with a new system and new armies...that is all that I can find to complain about??! Not bad people. Get out there and pick this up.
We had representing:
Beast Herd
Dwarfs x2
Infernal Dwarfs
Dark Elves
High Elves
Entombed Kingdoms x2
Ogres
Orcs & Goblins
Vampire Counts x2
Empire
