KoW, while a fine beer and pretzels game, is not something people are going to be willing to drive/fly to for a 2-3 day event and spend hundreds of dollars on hotels and such. It is lacking in a competitive structure.
Of course, this is IMO. I don't have a dog in this fight as I do not participate in the tournament scene at all. However, I just don't see KoW scratching the competitive itch.
I would be just as happy to be wrong, though. Anything that people can find to play and make them happy is great. KoW just doesn't feel like the system to accomplish that competitively.

Yeah, but how many are just a) mad as !@#$ at gw and b) haven't actually played this in a competitive environment for any length of time?
Like I said, no dog in this hunt, but after reading the rules and seeing it in action, while "fun", it is not competitive fun.

I only played one game so far and am willing to give it another try. I have the rule book and have had time to see if much changed from the free rules given out earlier.
Just giving me a resonance to put my tomb kings together
