Does anyone know how gpc is doing? I always hear how hard things are and how rough it is there.

Anybody know any of the inside scoop?

I've heard from a 4th hand source that things are looking bad for both stores.

Honestly.... i d buy more there if they actually had what i wanted in stock half the time

Normally i show up, goign to buy it there, and they dont have it.

So i drive somewhere that does, and buy it there.

I think they need more sales or something or more regular shipments

The store has a lot of problems.

These are miniatures I have literally put up on eBay and once they received bids I then bought them from the GPC and sold online for profit.

I know what sells for some games (like Starship Troopers) and I know that not all of their stock is worth a lot. Some items, however, are worth two or three times online what they can't get by having them waste away in the store.

I'm no businessman. I'm a proletariat. It is up to others to profit off of the sweat of my brow through the monstrous system of capitalism. Even still, I realize that they could sell stock online for a great profit and use that profit to buy some Tomb Kings or Magic the Gathering cards.

The only time I've seen them do a big investment in product in the last year was for that ugly, brittle, and expensive Ziterdes terrain.

Man, I know I've said all this before but if the store closes I'll be really sad.

ive been noticing this too. I stoped by today to hopefully pick something up for my imperial guards and they had practicly nothing on the shelf.
I think they have a lot of products in the store that no one ever looks at.
what Casey said is 100% correct its stuff that the average person coming into the store is not going to buy. and if they want to sell it they should put it for sale online where more people can see it.

Keep in mind if you don't want the store to close, then order through GPC.

Now I know "oh it's so much easier to get it elsewhere or just order online and get 10-20-whatever % off", but if we don't want the store to close, then we support it. I personally don't want the store to close, so drop money there whenever I need something. The only time I do not buy products from that store is when I need mass quantities of bits.

And yes I know we have stories where they have failed substantially at ordering specific limited time only products (hint hint Joey), but the bottom line is do you want them to close? I think recently they've been making smart business moves (hell we've been preaching the discounts for YEARS), so I think they are hurting enough to try new things, which we should try to support.

I totally agree.

I'm eager to buy things from them. I try. I really do. They just don't stock very much. I would have bought a box of Warriors of Chaos for the Escalation League but they didn't have any.

When they had their sale not long ago, I tried looking for stuff I wanted but couldn't find it either Sad so you're not alone there.

It's doubly rough as the last few times I've done orders or preorders they've either given me a hassle about it or ended up screwing it up.

I know the economy is tough and gamers are a cheap bunch, but they need to at least pretend to want my money.

After the recent Magic/TK delays, it does make it rough to continue to give them money, especially considering the significant discounts to be had.

However, if GP closes, for the most part folks will be forced back into their basements, and that is not good.

Part of me wants to just say F' it, but for purely selfish reasons, I won't.

I've ordered direct from the store a couple times and it usually takes several weeks... Then they put what I ordered out on the shelf. Sad

Another example of the continuing GW effort to screw the independents.

I stopped in last week specifically to purchase some of the new O&G stuff. No army book, no arachnarock, and nothing else newish except for the skulkers... I'm debating whether or not to continue trying to get it there.

I buy very little from the store. Why? Because I can get things cheaper on Ebay or other venues. As others have said, they have alot of stock in alot of things that people don't buy.

While I hate to see the store close, I can't feel bad for them if their business model isn't working. Adapt or die, that's the capitalist way. I'm all for people supporting local gaming stores, especially the ones we play at.... but the bad economy affects me too... why spend more money at this store when I can get the same product somewhere else for less?

I think they have what, two sets of Golgfag's Ogres? Pure metal I think at about $100? Anyone ever planning to buy them? Maybe when the new book comes out.

Somehow I didn't realize how bad things were, but today I went to GPC for the first time in.... awhile. There Warhammer stock was pathetic, most of what they had was old as hell too.
