kinda sucks that the enrollment is down to a mere 40 players now. Not sure why they picked such a small place to have it. I know the economy is down and there were fewer players last year but I was sure there were more than just 40. Anyways, pay as soon as you can.

I had issues with their rules packet link, but went to the website ( http://thecolonialgt.com/ )and then game play and found it fine. It seems they have not disallowed the Masque, I hope that will be fixed as we have seen her in Scooters hands recently already!!!

here is the latest 2 Newsletters...

Hey guys.

Just wanted to let you know that they Colonial is now ready to accept payment for the event, and the tournament packet is now up.  Here are a few changes to this year's event:

#1.  Because of the smaller space and reduced slots people that register and make a payment will be placed on the participants page in the order that they are received.  I will be updating the participants page daily.  Please count the amount of participants on the page before you make a payment.

#2.  There was some confusion last year with the participants page and the Master List that was located on the forum.  The list on the Participants Page on the main web site IS the Master List.  I am doing this to simplify things for everyone.  When you make a payment to reserve a slot, you will be placed on the participants page.

#3.  Remember that that you will not have to pay to play Warmachine on Friday night if you paid for the GW ticket.  Otherwise the Warmachine guys have to pay their fee for the Friday night event.

#4.  If you have received a ticket from another event to play in the Colonial and you can't make it, please notify my ASAP so that I can offer that slot to the standby list members.

#5.  If you are sending me snail mail, and you are worried that it won't make it in time, you need to notify me ASAP.  However, I can't keep your slot forever, you need to mail it to me in a timely manner.

#6.  If you have dietary issues, you need to notify me so I can do something for you.  Don't just show up and complain.  I can't help you if I don't know.

I will be fixing the forum SOON, so we can post missions up and have a space so players can ask me questions.  Please try to keep everything centralized on the Colonial forums when they are up, I can only make it to other forums every so often.

Look forward to all of you there!

MM

Hey guys.

Seems I am getting some questions asking for some clarification on Colonial issues.  I also added a few to "beat you to the punch."

#1.  Rules Packet can be found here: http://www.thecolonialgt.com/rules.htm.  Under "The Colonial GT 2012 rules"  In it is the point values, restrictions, painting scoresheet, number of slots, etc.

#2.  Though its not mentioned for 40k, terrain will not be rolled for.  Just like WHFB.  It will be placed and static.

#3.  The Colonial GT will be 5 rounds, 3 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday.

#4.  For WHFB, if changes are made for the restrictions of list building, the packet will be updated.  The restrictions here are in stone, they will not change.

#5.  The 40k painting score sheet and sportsmanship will mirror WHFB.

#6.  The paypal link is under registration and its scroll down bar.

Interesting to Note the top 10 armies from last year

1. Vampire Counts
2. Daemons
3. Daemons
4. Daemons
5. Dark Elves
6. Vampire Counts
7. Lizardmen
8. Vampire Counts
9. Dark Elves
10. Skaven

Im a lot out of the loops for armies now a days, guess we should be seeing a number of Ogre armies as well. They seem to be improved with their new book. I imagine there will be an increase in VC armies at the event as well.

I expect to see a lot of Ogres and Daemons. Elves of all varieties are going to have a hard time against Ogres so I'd expect them to not do well (barring Joey going nuts and making us proud).

I think Skaven and Lizardmen are going to be strong but not as popular as they probably should be for as strong as they are.

A new note as of a half hour ago said there were 5 WHFB slots left. I hope I got one of them.

Also seems to be some list restrictions being added. Some good ones, though far from comprehensive.

Hey guys.

Seems I am getting some questions/concerns regarding comp, or ETC like rules for the event. I have added some additional rulings in the spirit of this mentality and here is what I have come up with so far. I will let you know if any other changes happens in the future. I will add these changes as soon as I can to the Tournament Packet. Just know that these changes are official.

#1. There is now a 28 model cap to the following units of Elite Infantry: All Daemonic Infantry, Grave Guard, Chaos Warriors, Chosen, Temple Guard, Hammerers, Savage Orc Big'uns, Swordmasters, and White Lions.

#2. You may only have 1 Loremaster in your army. Period!

#3. Max of 4 warmachines in any army list.

#4. Restrictions by army:

Beastmen: None
Bretts: None
Dark Elves: Hydra is 0-1
Dwarfs: Grudge Thrower is 0-2
DOC: Flamers are 0-1. BSB can take either Daemonic Icon or Gifts
Empire: Steamtanks are 0-1
High Elves: None
Lizardmen: Salamanders are 0-1, Stegadons and Terradons(any kind) 0-2 choice
Ogres: None
O&G: Max of 60 Bows of any kind. Max of 3 NG Shamans
Skaven: 0-1 Abomination
Vampires: New Book, Terrorgheist 0-1, Black Coaches are 0-1, Banshee Screams ability 0-3 (including Terrorgheist). 0-4 Etherial Units (Including Characters)
Wood Elves: None
WOC: Hellcannon 0-1.
TK: None

#5. May not have more than 15 models in a Calvary Unit.

The cutoff for adding additional space to either game system will be moved to March 10th.

To everyone, make sure that when you submit your paypal payments that you ensure you tell me in the instructions what game you are playing, Warmachine is Friday Night.

Don't really see why the sudden change, but I'm not liking some of the omittions from the restricted list, if there are going to be restrictions at all. Rolling Eyes

Ya, not sure I like this being dropped on us as this has never been a comp'd tournament before. I don't particularly hate the restrictions, just as Ben said I think a few got left out. I also think the forum should have been up and running allowing a bit of discussion before this got changed. I sent this e-mail a few minutes ago, as if anyone would care about my thoughts on it Laughing

ExecutionerofKhaine wrote:
My name is listed as Raymond Jarbeau on the participants list, could you possibly change it to Joey instead of Raymond. Everyone knows me as Joey, Thanks

Also, I Just got the rules changes and I have a couple of issues I would like to get out there. I have been going for many years and this is always my favorite tournament, and the only one that I travel to consistently. I don't want it to be taken as complaining, it isn't, just some thoughts I think need be out there.

1. I am seeing there may be room for an expansion in the Fantasy participants by the date being moved back to Mar 10?? I hope so, the 40 seems to have been filled extremely fast, and I know a few more people interested in playing just were a tad slow getting paid.

2. I am a bit concerned that the tournament has been changed to a comp tournament now. I saw nothing that stated it was going to be that way before, and I haven't seen that the forum is working yet and I think this should be put out there for more of a discussion before making such changes.

3.I seem to remember the Masque has been included in all these special character restrictions, and has now been left
out?

4. I also cannot believe that there are no restriction on Ogres and/or Troll unit sizes??? This units are disgustingly good(especially Ogres/Maneaters) and very difficult to deal with as well. And now with Warmachines being restricted, this cuts back on many armies way to even deal with such things. Along the same lines I think the Hellheart is an uncommonly good item as well. Not saying I think it should be banned, but could be discussed for sure.

5. I actually don't mind the restrictions that have been put out there, except for the missing name of the Masque and the lack of Monstrous infantry unit size, just think it changes to a different type of tournament now.

6. I haven't heard anything about prizes support sponsors and the likes, not that I win any, but are we along the same lines as last year?

Thanks,
Joey

That's a fairly written letter, Joey. I agree with many of your sentiments as well.

I can see Ogres from last year having no restrictions (if there are going to be restrictions at all) but there are a few things from the Ogre book that just stand out like a sore thumb.

Until 1 Purple Sun doesn't mean GG (you lose Ogres), you might have a point. Razz

The only thing I really see people grumbling about when it comes to ogres are Gutstars and Hellheart. The Runemaw Banner ruling hasn't fully sunk in for Miasma spammers...
