I am going to be putting my undead (tomb kings)together for KoW and for Warhammer(some kind of version).

Just looking for some tips on what works in General for KoW armies so I know how I want to build this hybrid purpose army.

Off the top of my Head, cause I am not looking at my book, I am thinking...

2 Characters on steeds(w/surge and healing)
2-3 units of Calvary
1-2 units of Wraiths
Werewolves
Wights
Catapults
3 units of Skeleton Archers

Not sure how strategies work after only playing 1 game, but I a thinking hang back and shoot as much as possible, charge with knights when possible, or block with cheaper units then counter with Knights.

What size units, what kind of knights?

2 Characters on steeds(w/surge and healing)

Not a bad choice, but I'd suggest a Cursed Pharoah and a Revenant King. Mounted is nice, but usually my undead generals just follow along with the shamblers to surge them.

2-3 units of Calvary

I'd go with a Regiment of Soul Reavers, who don't shamble, and a regiment of Revenant Cav, who do

1-2 units of Wraiths

Wraiths are a good flanking unit, one troop probably is good enough

Werewolves

Wolves and wights might be overkill. A regiment of each

Wights

Catapults

Not worth the points I would say. Too iffy with the high to hit numbers.

3 units of Skeleton Archers

3 hordes is fine.

1685 as listed above. 1520 if you scrap a horde of skeleton archers. Hope that helps.

Scott, I am more looking for potential strategies for the game system than I am writing the list yet

Lets see. Main things, strategy wise;

Warhammer tends to run a fairly thin battleline. You run a wide formation of units, spread out, to encounter the enemy, win flanks, and swing in from the sides.

KoW rewards thicker formations. Large, singular units to absorb damage, walking in the front, with smaller units (Regiments) Standing behind, ready to come in or be recommited in case of needing pressure somewhere.

Currently, people are running very shooting heavy lists and very flyer heavy lists (Neither things undead necessarily excel at). The proper counter to this is to have many wide spread units, in two battle lines, so there is no place for enemy fliers to land behind your original line that is not in a threat of a charge.

The efficiency, in points/damage for hordes is sometimes a trap. They are hard to manuver, and are very vulnerable to being hit by multiple hammers and shattering, only able to counter charge one of the things bullying them.

Figure you want something like this;

Some shooting
1-2 flying characters to handle enemy shooting untis (Doing one wound in melee is all it takes to turn off shooting for a round)
At least 2 cheap hordes to fill up the center of your line
Faster hammers/light units, normally some of each, to run on the flanks
Secondary battle line; More elite;point efficient units, who move behind the shield of the front line, safe from incoming fire (Mostly), and who are ready to surge forwards to do the real killing when battle joins.

For undead specifically; you will want mummies or wights as a secondary battle line, as each can do a great deal of damage, and both can be surged. Your magic is most efficient coming out of Lich kings, while you can get most of that, although no mount, by taking Cursed Pharohs.

If you want, i have close to a hundred games of KoW done so far, and came in 2nd at the last tournament i went to. I have a few types of lists I can show you, and show you how generally to place against
