Hmm, I've heard things but this is stupider than I'd of imagined. _________________ Gun control is leaving your demonsmith engineers close enough to re-roll the scatter on your artillery. |

Apparently it's been in the US for years. I didn't know that, I've always been able to order online stuff, if I needed it. I think perhaps an anti-trust lawsuit might be in the works. |

While it is anti competitive, its apparently perfectly legal. He even states that GW was unable to do it in Canada, up until now, and Europe because of anti-monopoly laws. But this isn't another nail. They are showing record profits. And because of this their profits will go even higher.

You might of been ordering from people in other countries. That's also apparently being stopped. The new policies state you can only sell to people in your own country. So prepare to only order stuff online from GW or by calling in online retailers. . . . . _________________ My Blog |

Yeah, I don't see drastic changes for the USA to be honest. You will still be able to get Chinese knockoffs if you are so inclined, and Neal at the Warstore has done it this way for a long time. Now, whether he has a brick and mortar storefront, I do not know... _________________ Tone on the internet can be a bitch. Honest, I am not Nerd Raging. Well, maybe not. |

I have been buying at Game Parlor for years and will continue, this does not affect me what so ever. _________________ I lose cause I can |

I buy online, but buy the bulk at the Game Parlor because that's where I play. (Even if they don't always seem to want my money (that's another conversation (one we've been having for years (ugh)))).
But, yeah, this isn't bad. There's a reason that Warmachine is getting popular but sells next to no models at the Game Parlor. _________________ The Hammer Dialectic - Thoughts on Warhammer, Professional Wrestling, and Dialectical Materialism.

I think GW is in kind of a tough spot. You need stores like GP where people can go and play, because it's a social game and that's half of hobby. On the other hand you also need the hobby to be accessible, and for me that means being able to buy stuff online. Also, some brick and mortar stores are subsidized through online sales (like MWG), so they're only able to stay running because they can sell stuff online.
It's too bad GW can't use a model like MTG, with great prize support at independent stores and incentives for people to come in and spend money. I spent tons of money when I was still going to FNM at Victory. GW is basically in competition with independent retailers, which works out miserably for everyone. If the GW stores become the only option for 40k I'll probably just play at my house. _________________ -Mike H. |

When I read the one document, from what I could tell online sales can still happen, just not from clearing houses. If you have a brick and mortar, you are fine. You also can't ship outside your country of origin.
This will potentially affect eBay sales and such, but there will still be people selling online.
Of course, I could have misread that... _________________ Tone on the internet can be a bitch. Honest, I am not Nerd Raging. Well, maybe not. |

I think it just applies the same 2003 restrictions from the US to Canada. So Canadian online stores can't have a "shopping cart" but you can call them and place an order.
If you listen to the MWG farewell video, he said there were some other changes that made having an online store unfeasible. Like he can't ship to the U.S., and there's a cap on how many GW models of a certain type he can sell. _________________ -Mike H. |

Yeah that's pretty much what is happening to Canada. They can't have any online shopping carts anymore.
The certain models is the specialist game systems that GW has. Like blood bowl/battlefleet gothic. What he was saying is that he can order it, but can only order $500 worth a month. Which sucks for him because those games generally net him around $5000 worth of sales a month. At least that's how I heard it.
As to GP, I also try to buy all my stuff from GP. Because lets face it I don't want to call up an online retailer to put in an order for me. I'd rather just call GP or say screw it and order directly from GW if I don't feel like interacting with any human. All these policy changes does is try to bully out all these discount online shops to help brick and mortar stores. While I understand why they want to do that, it just sucks because of the current trend of their prices. Which makes it harder for new people to justify spending a ton of money to try out a new game. Though like I said, I tend to buy all my GW stuff from GP because the price difference usually isn't huge.
The only thing that really bothers me about this is bits. I tend to buy from thewarstore because of their great customer service/readily available bits. But with this whole "no selling out of package models" means I'll probably have to deal with less reputable eBay sellers. Ugh. _________________ My Blog |

This is what was posted on the Warstore's FB page. They do not know 100%, but think it will have no impact.
TheWarStore.com As far as we can tell, we can continue to take phone orders. We are still evaluating the full ramifications and will update more when we know.

Ugh, shitty.
I wonder what's to stop these companies from doing all their business through eBay. _________________ -Mike H. |

GW not selling to them. At least thats what it seems like is the consequences that people are saying. My question is, what/could GW do is if these companies start another company that only sells bits. Then the main company sells their GW stock to them. You know, like laundering money, but with GW products lol _________________ My Blog |

Can't find the article, but apparently GW has asked Ebay (and they have complied, or will comply) to remove all GW categories from Ebay.
And yes if GW catches you selling their stuff in a way they don't like, they'll stop letting you carry there stuff. |

This is the only place I found concerning about that. I haven't heard it from anywhere else, but I'm sure this is probably the truth. I guess we'll see. _________________ My Blog |

I didn't go to no journalism school or anything, but I have a habit of not believing (let alone repeating) things that are only found on one website and are posted on April Fools. Especially when those things are verifiable to be wrong. _________________ The Hammer Dialectic - Thoughts on Warhammer, Professional Wrestling, and Dialectical Materialism.

While it wouldn't surprise me that it would be an April Fools' joke, it also wouldn't surprise me if it were true. . . . . _________________ My Blog |
