Lore of Undeath will be available to all wizards as follows :
● 4 dice casting cap
● No ethereal units may be raised
● Raised units give up victory points
● The Players wishing to use Lore of Undeath must provide to their opponents a list pregame of the
units, sizes of units and optional upgrades (such as command) that they have the models for that
they could raise during the game.

Good luck, I more than likely will not be able to go... I'll see if I can swap the days with another co-worker, but as it stands it is just a bad weekend for me.

I like the undeath rules. They seem much more fair.

I don't. Too much of a knee jerk reaction to them. All the restrictions other than the giving of points is way too restrictive. The list of what you can raise is spelled out in the Nagash rules. You have a spell that is 24+ to cast so you need more than 4 dice to cast it. There are no damaging spells in that lore as I found out at Brawlers. All I can do is chaff the hell out of the battlefield. A couple games I didn't get a spell off at all so I don't see where it is that strong. To get a Terrogheist you have to roll double 6 or 24+ plus already have gotten 3 tokens from previous spells. In 5 games, I had the opportunity only once and my wizard died before I could try it. Other lores are much more scary.

I would think the list will be something just to make it easier on opponents who are not familiar with the lore. Also providing him with available units can eliminates some of the thought process for dispel attempts. I mean if I know you don't have a terrorgheist or a vargulf, I may not want to dispel Wink

I do think 4 dice is a bit rough, but it is a comp'd tournament so with that in mind I think I do like the idea

I made the 24+ roll 3 times, getting me 2 terrorgheists and a casket, but I had an extra dice from mushrooms to help.

I think the 4 dice cap is too low, 5 seems sufficient

Giving points for summoned units should also be enough without disallowing ethereal.

Based on those 3 restrictions I don't think the lore is worth taking, which may be the real goal.

I also wonder how they determine the points, if I create 20 zombies, then use a necromancer to grow 12 more in the same unit, do you get the starting or the final size?

Seems I am batting a thousand so far this tournament season, yet another tournament that I already have a commitment on the same weekend.

Anyhow, I am not sure about the rules for Undeath. In my opinion (which really isn't saying much) if the event is a "goodbye 8th Ed." tournament, then I say play 8th straight out of the Big Red Book, 5 games -- one for each scenario (AND watchtower), and none of these End Times schenagians.

If instead you want a "so long 8th Ed. and End Times" then I would pick rules from all the ET releases and just go bananas. "So long and thanks for all the fish!"

That said, I am sure it will be lots of fun and a great event; I am sorry that I am going to miss it.

Cheers,

Oh well. Wife told me my future and 9th will be well in play by the time I get to even sniff some dice, so we'll see what 9th does to this magic and other rules.

I hope you do get a chance to do so. Just from what I am noticing in list building ETC is WAY different than Swedish. My current Ogre list scores in at about a 7, when I have not taken anything harder than a 12 in previous Swedish tournaments. Hell the Skaven list I was playing around with came in at a -3...

If I can get all the dust settled and finish converting a chariot before then I might be able to go to this!

Regardless, I will be more than happy to go to dinner with you guys or stop by and provide moral support!

We must like it. We keep going, and going, and going!
I like it. Really like seeing all the different armies as well as play styles. I think as a group our playing gets better too playing such a variety of competitors.

Ha. Im thinking about expanding my vampire counts army using a ton of mantic models. Or starting Chaos Dwarves, mostly using Mantic models.

They arent death on that sort of thing at ETC are they? Been reading the players guide and doesnt say one way or another.
