I heard about this listening to the most recent episode of Garagehammer (I mighty fine podcast for those that are interested).

I am unfamiliar with the Inner Circle Gaming Club, but they are apparently putting on a one day tournament at the end of September that is relatively close for WHFB, 40K, Warmachine, and Flames of War, in Jessup, MD: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=8024+Max+Blobs+Park+Road+Jessup,+MD+20794-9205&ll=39.131458,-76.762075&spn=0.032823,0.076475&oe=UTF-8&gl=us&z=14

So far the only thing that I can find about the tournament is the following flyer: http://www.innercirclegamingclub.com/uploads/Battle_at_Blobs_Park_Tournament.pdf. I was thinking of going and wanted to see if anyone else was interested. For those that are interested the registration page can be found at the club's website: http://www.innercirclegamingclub.com/. I am planning on emailing them and seeing if they have a tournament pack ready. I saw mention of one on their forums, but couldn't find it on the site. Does anyone know anything about this club or how the tournaments are?

Just a short update. Got the following email in response to my request for information about a player's tournament pack.

"The tournament packet should be posted in the next week or so. Minor restrictions - no Teclis, Masque, Kairos or Thorek. Book of Hoeth requires the casting value to be met, and a few others. Games and prizes will be good for competitive and non-competitive players. We are also giving prizes to the best general of each army. Hope to see you there."

Who, if anyone is attending here? I am strongly considering it for fantasy. It is not that far away, and is 4 games too. Makes for a long day.

FWIW, the same people running this are running the Fantasy side of things at the Open.

I've heard good things about the 40K side of things (I also want to say that I've heard negative things, but can't actually what they were and I want to say they came from generally negative people so I wouldn't sweat it).

I might try to go to this.

Have fun. I won't be going. It's a cool event location, and the players are mostly pretty friendly, though they have their share of win-at-all-cost guys too.

I have had some really really bad experiences with the Capital Gamers, and won't attend their events anymore. I was mightily tempted to not go to the NOVA open just becuase CGC is running it.

In the three tournies of their I've been to, I've pretty consistantly seen really atrocious judging being done by people who don't know the system, really horrible scenarious designed by people who don't know the system, and some extremely egregious cronyism in terms of judging, including a last-minute redefinition of the tourney scoring to allow a 3-1 member with a pretty paint job to take best general instead of a 4-0 outsider with merely average painting (ahem). Yes, I'm still bitter.

On the plus side, they pretty consistantly have really good barbecue and other food available at reasonable prices.

I'll be curious to hear whether or not they have gotten their act together and can run a tournament in acceptable fashion.

I just paid for my entry. If you go to the forum section under Blob's Park it has the package with rules and scenarios.

I also placed a note when i did my Paypal(by the shipping address click "add") to let them know we are Chantiully Gaming Legion so we will not be paired in the first round. They have 25 entries so far for Fantasy. Lots of prizes too, Best General for each army(i.e daemons get one, TK's get one...etc) will get a prize as well as many others.

Seems you get a free beer too for each game you win Very Happy I am sure it is meant to distract you in the final games though Laughing

I was going to mention that the rules packs were up as well, which can be found here:

http://icgc.users-board.net/t1152-updated-8-12-2011-players-packets-battle-at-blobs-park-sept-24-2011-click-to-register-paid-unpaid-attendee-list

My one concern is (and perhaps I've missed it somewhere) but it looks as though some special characters are allowed. According to a thread on their forums they are planning on banning Teclis, Kiros Fateweaver, Thorek Ironbrow, and The Masque of Slaanesh, however I couldn't find that anywhere in the rules pack.

Still, I am still thinking of giving it a try because, heck, I'm a glutton for punishment that way. Still, this certainly leads credence to the notion that this may end up being a "win-at-all-costs" type of event.

I don't think that too many special characters are that bad. Obviously the ones not allowed are the worst which is why they aren't allowed. So bring a list that is competative as you wanna be. You bring a fluffy bunny list you may lose but will be playing similiar lists as you go. You wanna win or take a shot at it, bring the heat! Or do like me..bring what is painted, or paint till the last minute trying to bring some heat Rolling Eyes

I like how they are giving prizes for each win and for each army group. I'm signing up as soon as I figure out which army I am taking.

I'm signed up & paid. 2800 is a damned weird point size, but I think I can scoot my 2500 point list up without too terribly much trouble.

Do you play at Game Parlor? Not sure I know the name?
Anyway, as soon as I am knocked off the pyramid I too will be looking for games to familiarize myself with my own list as there are some newcomers to my normal lists.
