Yes. Yes, you are. I don't see the point in paying a company to develop something. That's what small business loans are for, dammit.

I saw this one to, and was pretty tempted by it. The rad thing about kickstarter, is if it doesn't go through then you don't loose anything.

if the Kickstarter doesn't make its original goal. You dont lose your money. If it does get funded then you pay them at the end.
So you don't always pay......

Some companies don't really need the capital, but it works well for promotion and getting orders up front so they can better manage production. It's win / win.

You should know that these crowdfunded efforts are almost always late: on the order of "a few months" to "motherfucker, gimme my money back."

I'm in on Deadzone as well. Mantic has, if nothing else, been pretty good about hitting deadlines with their Kickstarters. Not that their figures are always worth the time needed to paint them, but whatever.

Sigh, I considered myself strong when I didn't back the robotech kickstarter. But then I crumbled as soon as I saw this. My love for Mecha video games is apparently greater than my love of not spending my money
