Big Huge Congratulations to both Gene and Phil, both taking Best-in-Race for their respective armies!!!
Half of the CGL crew took home awards!!!! How awesome is that!
On a personal note, I finally beat an opponent at a tournament (WOO HOO!). It was personally speaking a great tournament. I had 4 great opponents and 1 ok opponent.
I also had my personal best showing in over a year. All in all, it was a great event and I really want to thank Brandon, Gene, and Phil for making it such an enjoyable weekend!

Great job Eric, your sportsmanship score was just short of the max.
It was a fun tourney, not sure if I will try a day of doubles before a two day tournament again, it's a long weekend

I really enjoyed watching Phil and Irdy play their match. Phil, you chaffed his Chariots beautifully.
In case anyone is interested, my devastating loss round 1 apparently launched my opponent onto table 1. Here is my first round opponent, Bobby Ash, in his round 2 game.

As you can see, it is a tough army. I've not watched this battle yet, so I am not sure of the outcome, but it is three big blocks and a couple of monsters with special characters. However, I imagine a skilled player could take it apart.

So I have watched about 35 minutes of the round 2 match so far, and it is so boring. Phil, your match with Irdy was way more entertaining!
Cheers for not only being a fun opponent to play, but also a fun opponent to watch.

I thought I would watch the Round 2 match as well, and I managed 22 minutes before I had to find something else to watch. Very boring to watch. No dialogue, no interaction, just dead air and dice rolling. Night and day from the very entertaining TK match. |

I am about 1/2 way through, and I plan to finish because I do ENT to see how my round 1 opponent does, but if t wasn't for that, I would have quit watching after the top of turn 1.
Also, it is amazing the little thing you notice. For instance, the deamon-player's dice rolling technique would annoy the heck out of me. He just picks up the dice and then 'lays' them on the table from just off the table. ... That and the sunglasses indoors :/

Whether he meant to or not, he came across as someone that was showing up with a Vegas World Poker Championship -style attitude and demeanor. He behaved extremely competitive leaving no room to be friendly.
It's funny that at ~5:29 of the video, someone pops their head in the door and tells him he looks like an asshole! He then goes on to defend that it isn't against the rules to wear sunglasses ...
Maybe he just needs some friendly advice to take it all a little less seriously - a few games with the CGL and he'd be a new player!

I think he says that someone has bet him that he won't wear them the whole tourney, or something to that effect. Doesn't make him look too good, and might be annoying for an opponent, tho I will say I've done worse for bets, I'm sure!
On another note, I really like that they have video of some of the top battles. Pretty cool idea! |
