Interestingly Frank and I are both playing comp 15 wood elves first round.
3/5 of our club drew wood elves with 15 comps or higher. A friendly draw for the casual gaming legion |

Ah well! Nope, I have the list I created with war machines plus trolls and longbeards., no strollaz. Something tells me this is going to be a fairly uneventful match. Ah well, lesson learned for next time.

Frank,
when you and I played at the tournament a few weeks ago, I was surprised at how effective my limited shooting was against the Ogres. I had one unit of 10 repeater crossbows and two repeater bolt throwers -- all of which got to shoot all six turns. The wood elves are going to have 2-3 times that amount of shooting both in number and effect.
With that in mind, I think you need to think about what you can do to reduce the shooting as early as possible. Getting across the board as fast as possible isn't enough -- partly because the wood elves are likely to run away from you and you will have a very hard time closing with anything of value. I would recommend you see what you can do to take magic missiles, which will be particularly effective against T3, low armor save elves. Even flock of doom, for example (2d6 Str2 or 3) can put a hurt on ten wood elf archers. Don't know what lore you are taking but this is one time you would want to get any magic missile available.

Every Elf you shot down with your maneaters is less elves shooting you |

Thats the idea, hopefully i win the scout deployment roll and prevent him from chaffing / slowing me up so that I can shove my gut horde, stonehorn and bale taurus.
As for the maneaters my plan is to hopefully get the +1 T spell and Trollgutson them. Use them to whittle down the bunker or snipe the mage if they dont have dragonbane gem or to many negative to hit modifiers.
At least that is my plan going in. Not having any idea how the list looks or he plays makes it difficult. _________________ 2016

Considering none of us know either of our opponents names I'm guessing neither is going to be a top tier player. I'm playing Rickshaw on Wed. He's brining Wood Elves for my final test run.
Played Gene today. I had the game in the bag, but Gene still managed to swing a combat and end up routing me for a 20-0... |

I hear Gene cheats. The Lady of the Lake gives him a ward save but not my Ogres...
Ill confirm this Wednesday. _________________ 2016

Phil, this might be close to the list you will face. Its comped at a 15, the guy is from the same club (bromance gaming or what ever). Take a look.

Nice find Frank! Guys name is Landon Elf and I'm playing Landon Johnson's Wood Elves. Coincidence, I think not.
I'll have to go home and look up how strong Brood Horrors and Treeman Ancients are, but if that's the list he takes I should be in pretty good shape. Only 46 total Archers, which is the same number as me... Bad news for him I think. |

I just looked up the rules for a treeman ancient, and brood horror.
He's got a soft list. Level 4 Death is only real threat. I'm smelling a 20-0 round one. |

Phil, apparently lists moved a bit, your playing a VC list first round. Apparently that Landon guy is playing Matt Irby... _________________ 2016

Irby stole my easy win! Making a competitive VC list at 15.3 is tough though. He is from a competitive club at least, Desperate Allies. See if you can find anything on youtube from Ira Knights club. |
