http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2011/05/gw-news-may-2011-price-increases.html

I mean, fucking really? $33 for paperback army books? $41.25 for any special unit box, even old outdated ones? That's a 25% increase. Hell, they are even raising prices on their shitty primers? $15.75 for a can of [censored] that shoots out snotballs? $66 for a land raider?

Really?

(I know prices go up, and I know GW does this at least twice a year. But raising prices 25% on some products? I know it also standardizes some of the structure, but it is still absurd. /rage)

Well, buying on ebay will be cheaper, but overall you should wind up paying more.

This is why I stopped playing Orcs and Goblins - I didn't want to pay $35 for a new book.

I liked an idea Sam had - just sell us a digital license and every time the book is updated with errata or a new edition, just make it available for download.

An open letter to Games Workshop - Embargo on shipping overseas from the UK

Quote:
As it stands I question why you do the things you do. Raising prices every year annoys me but I cannot complain too loudly as your products are a luxury item but you do not provide excellent customer service one usually expects with such goods

I 100% agree

I'm dine buying the books. I have all of them on my hard drive. They already have the new O&G and TK book on scribd. Get it there if you want to start. Print off your pages.

Nvm. Boycott gw. Don't buy models.

space marine battleforce went up $20 and the loota box went up .25 lol! theres not even a method / formula to this madness.... i've got more than i need to play both fant and 40k but definitely wont be buying any more stuff. i just download the codex's and armybooks when they come out but yeah i'll have to quit the addiction of wanting to start collecting new armies, i have way too much to paint as it is...

I'm writing on their facebook, I think we need to flood it, that's probably the fastest and most efficent medium to let them know the customer base's opinion. Plus, if their facebook is flooded with disappointment it's not good PR.

Oh and you can't comment directly on their wall, but you can comment on photos, flood dat [censored] yo!

I'm pretty forgiving of price increases. I don't like them but it won't keep me from buying figures.

Even still, if there was a viable alternative for a miniatures game I'd be jumping ship now. Unfortunately I dislike Warmachine and Hordes, Malifaux is overcomplicated, and I'm a little uncomfortable with making a game out of World War 2.

So, yeah, I'll still be a customer out of habit / lack of competition.

Yea its a luxury item so I am not going to complain too much however my issue with them has always been their attitudes towards their customers. If I drop $500 on an Italian suite I expect excellent customer service, and I get it. If I drop $500.00 on a GW army I feel that I get from their company, so what else have you done for us today.

They simply d*nt give a [censored]. It was one of the things that rubbed me raw when I worked for them.

And I've been on the ebay downloaded book kick for about 2 or 3 years now. When I really love something, and just so happen to have the cheddar, I may buy it. It's pretty slim chance though...

I just bought the dark eldar codex at retail price, I physcially own the 8th edition rocket hammerbook or the army book for my WOC. I can't help myself. It's sexy book.

I hate loving their product, because they are such a poor and duchebaggy company. It makes me feel like those woman that get beat and by their dudes and tell you that you don't see their husband the way that they do.

The business side just has such an arrogant mindset.

Announcing you're going away from metal because it's too expensive, then putting out the same models and raising the price is hilarious. Couple that with what they're doing to the Aussies and another price rise, well... My fiancee tried to act sad when I said I don't think I'm going to buy any more GW models Razz

I am also down to flood the book of faces, though their page will probably go the way of their forums and GW will disappear off the internet again.

Does anybody know anything about the Kings of War game?

Frankly, the price increases stink but are nothing new: they do this every summer. Always amazes me that people are surprised when it happens.

It's also _nothing_ compared to the fucking they're sending to Australia now. Nobody in the US is getting screwed like the Aussies right now.

Getting screwed with lube vs without is still getting screwed.

But I do agree that getting screwed with lube is better than with sand paper wrapped around the end of a jackhammer.

It isn't that they raised prices; it is by how much, and the other crap that just infuriates people (switch to resin/plastic hybrids for old metals (Yay!), and then raising those prices too (FU)).

FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU.....!!!!!!!! Finally, an internet meme that actually seems appropriate.

Honestly I think it's the arrival of all three issues at once that makes it feel like such a statement about their corporate attitude.

Yes, it makes it feel adversarial instead of them running a business.
