Is anyone going to the Colonial for 40k? I just read the rules packet and it was not encouraging. From what I can tell (it is pretty disorganized), there is only one page on the 40k tournament. No scenarios, no scoring system. The whole thing reeks of amateurism. Most disappointing is that the army lists are 1999+1 points, sigh. _________________ Warhammer 40K 7th edition games (W-D-L):

Casey and I went (for 40k) in 2010, and had a fantastic time. It was really well organized and the whole even was well done.
All this stuff that's been going on this year for the 40k side, though, has been discouraging. By the time they finally set the date, it was too late for me to pull my army together for it. So we aren't going.
Finding out information about it has been hard, a completely opposite experience of what I had before. And 1999 +1? Screw that.
I don't know what happened, but I really hope they get it together for next year. _________________ Chickhammer

I think a lot of last years organizing was due to piggybacking on the yearly fantasy event. 40k is new to Colonial and now trying to separate on its own event. I do wish they had left Fantasy as it was and moved 40k to a later date as Fantasy has been in the same time frame for many years. Given support and some time by players, the event organizers are awesome and it will work out. _________________ Joey

They've run 40k for the last 3 years, at least (maybe more, I don't know for sure), so I don't think that's a reasonable excuse.
It's a little strange that they decided to move Fantasy all the way to the end of the year, though. As their flagship event, it seems odd.
I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and see how the planning goes for next year, because it was a really good tournament. _________________ Chickhammer

I'm not sure I can compete with the 250+ NOVA Open showing, but I appreciate your vote of confidence. _________________ Chickhammer

Ashley,
Next year I'd like to put your event up as one of the 40k Colonial Qualifiers. Had we known about it before hand, in talking with Chris, this past event would have been a qualifier. You did an outstanding job and should be recognized.
The main reason for the hiccup is that new people are handling the 40k event, and scheduling of a premiere site for the Fantasy event has thrown the dates off. There was a huge cry last year for more attention to 40k so that is the experiment this year. another reason is the dreaded Fiscal Cliff. The main contributors/organizers are government employees and they have an unstable schedule and funds at the present to be on the hook for such an event.
I know they will do everything they can to make the 40k event one to go to. I know for sure, the Fantasy one will be the cats meow. _________________ Thanks,

Thanks! I was definitely planning to run it again, I'd love to do it as a Colonial Qualifier. Let me know what I need to do and all that jazz. _________________ Chickhammer
