Fellow Working Brothers and Sisters,
The new edition of Warhammer 40,000 will be out soon. I'm expecting it to be in the middle of July. With that in mind I think it is time for us to run an Escalation League for Warhammer 40k.
I'm thinking of starting it on August first and running for eight weeks.
Here is a rough outline of the schedule and some general rules:
Week 1: 500 points
Week 2: 750 points
Week 3: 1000 points
Week 4: 1250 points
Week 5: 1500 points
Week 6: 1750 points
Week 7: 2000 points
Week 8: 2000 points
Normal rules for games under 1000 points (no 2+ armor saves, no models with 3 wounds, no vehicles with combined armor of higher than 33, etc).
I'm thinking that each week you can have up to 3 games count. Meaning, if you play 5 games and 3 of those are wins you would count the 3 wins towards your score.
Scoring will likely be something like:
Win - 5 points
Draw - 3 points
Loss - 2 points
Painted - 3 points
Week - Add x points for each game where x is the week the game was played (week 1 = 1 bonus point per game, etc)
There will be a wrap up tournament with your league score giving you points for the tournament. Enough to matter but not so much as to make the tournament a foregone conclusion.
Anyone interested? Thoughts? _________________ The Hammer Dialectic - Thoughts on Warhammer, Professional Wrestling, and Dialectical Materialism.

What's the force org going to look like for games under 1000 points? I'd assume 1-6 Troops and no more than one of anything else. Is that right? _________________ Nassir Ahmad

I would wait until we all have the 6th rules in hand before deciding. Heck, they might go to percentages like Fantasy did..... _________________ Tone on the internet can be a bitch. Honest, I am not Nerd Raging. Well, maybe not. |

I hope not. Percentages was one of the things I hated about Fantasy back when I played it. That and the woeful lack of laser guns. _________________ Nassir Ahmad

Percentages in the current edition are AMAZINGLY better. I don't think I could ever go back.
For 40k, I am not sure . Granted, I don't want to see 5+ "cheap" HQ's on one side for 40k. The idea of 5+ psykers on one side would be kind of....... _________________ Tone on the internet can be a bitch. Honest, I am not Nerd Raging. Well, maybe not. |

Crappy. I think the word you're looking for is "crappy." Perhaps "cheesey," but I like "crappy" better. I agree that so many HQs would be ludicrous. Either system can be abused. I like the Force Org Chart because it's simpler. _________________ Nassir Ahmad

*nod* I can understand that, but in WHFB with a FoC, a Goblin Warboss is put on the same footing as a Chaos Lord.
Does. Not. Compute.
I guess we will find out in a couple months. I am just hoping for an improvement like WHFB had with 8th.

Yup, as it is now 40k is a game I love but don't like. I'm sure the changes, good or bad, will make me interested in the game for at least a year. I'm hopeful it'll shake up the game like 8th shook up Fantasy. I love 8th Edition for Fantasy so I'm hopeful they'll do right by 40k. _________________ The Hammer Dialectic - Thoughts on Warhammer, Professional Wrestling, and Dialectical Materialism.
