Feast of Blades is our answer to the loss of 'Ard Boyz as far as Warhammer 40K goes. This tournament has been running in Denver for a couple years now to great success. The top 3 players from Game Vault will receive "Golden Tickets" to the Invitational Tournament in Denver in October.
Every year across America scores of stores in dozens of states and hundreds (thousands) of players will compete in the annual Feast of Blades Tournament.
The missions are all the same, the painting requirements are all the same and at the end of the qualifier rounds each location will send three champions to represent their store in Denver. These Champions will then meet a few months after the qualifier to compete in an elite tournament, which can only be attended by invitation. Here the competition is fierce and is only meet by the strength of the ale!
Like the fabled Astartes, it is considered an honor to attend the Feast finals and prove not only your personal strength as a player, but also represent your 'Chapter,' (FLGS) to the rest of the Champions.
There are thousands of dollars in prize support given for the event, Prizes from previous years included A custom painted banner by Jawaballs, 'Fellblades of renown,' dice cubes for all finalists with the Feast logo on the "6" position, shirts for all finalists, GF9 goodies for all finalists, Battle foam swag, Signed BlackLibrary books, thousands of dollars in GW swag and much much more (Please note that this prize support is at the tournament in Denver, not here in Fredericksburg.)

I agree. Either play 2k (with all the crap that goes with it), or play a real point level, like 1750/1850.
With that said, it doesn't affect me at all as I am not into the tournament thing. _________________ Tone on the internet can be a bitch. Honest, I am not Nerd Raging. Well, maybe not. |

I think the goal is that since this is one of the first major tourns of 6th they wanted to have high points but avoid the nuttiness of, two standard FOC, 2 allies, and 2 fortifications. |

So the goal was to play 5 1/2 edition not 6th _________________ I lose cause I can |

Since this is one of the first major tournaments of 6th, I think you should get rid of Hull Points and the common random psychic disciplines, too: they're pretty different from the way the game used to be played, and it'd just be easier to do things the way folks are used to. _________________ Rush - Warpstone Pile

I didn't make the rules for this tourn FoB did, but turning a tourn into an Apoc tourn is never a good thing. But then again that's why it's 1999 points.
Either way it's not really worth getting all worked up over it |

It's your tournament you make up whatever rules you want, I just like making fun of 1999 + 1 to get around the fact that you are making up rules . _________________ I lose cause I can |

As I said, I didn't make them up
This is a Feast of Blades qualifier and I am following the guild lines they set up.
The fact that I agree with them does help |

All I know is that when 5E came out, some people kept trying to play 4E and sucked as a result. 1999+1 is very much people trying to play 5E. LTP6E.
And yeah, it's their choice, so I'm mocking them and not you. When you start organizing a Party Like It's 1999+1 Tournament, I'll start giving you crap about 5E Wound Allocation is "More Competitive" and that we should play it that way instead. _________________ Rush - Warpstone Pile

Are there still spots available? I'd like to sign up. I can get on the CGL forums from work, but not the Game Vault ones. |

Kevin,
I got you as 1st alt. You know tourns, and that people don't show up at the last minute.
But I know it's a hike for you to get down to the GV, so it's up to you if you want to take a chance and show up. |

Oh... I signed up last night on the forums and there were still 4 spots open. I guess I should have signed up earlier, even though I wasn't sure if I could make it. Thanks for the heads up. |

Yeah, that's an old list that Cathy updates from time to time, if you do down a bit and you see the current list. |

It took me three hours to get there, but I had a great time. Only got to play the last two games. Which puts me at 3 games of 6th edition now. Each game I play, the more I like the new rules. Thanks to James and Andrew for the games. The only observation I have is that 2000 points is a lot. It gives you enough to build your death star unit and have plenty left over for bonus stuff. |
