Saw it on a normal screen. It's decent, better than the reviews but not as impressive as LotR (which isn't surprising).

I think I will go again with Ruth to an IMAX 3d and see if the HFR makes us sick/makes a difference.

Nope. 15-20 minutes at the start of silliness, then mostly action (with a lull or two).

It was good, but not great.

The 48fps worked, and well, except when it didn't. When it worked, things looked good! When it didn't work (I'm especially looking at you Radagast, you stupid [censored] with your stupid sled), it looked really cheap. It's definitely not going to catch on, but I'm not sorry I saw it with the higher framerate.

It's a long movie, but it never really felt too long (except at the beginning).

movie was great saw it at 24fps will see it again at 48fps facial animation of the pale orc were incredible some of the best ive seen in a while (tentacle guy from pirates of carraibean is comparable) critics bashed it and said it was slow.... u need time to build character and i think it has more action than the fellowship although fellowship is prob better

i saw it at fairfax rave so even though i know fellow citizens of fairfax are needy and not very aware of things (visit the apple store at fair oaks for proof...) a lot of people moaned and bitched about the ending.... how do people not know about there being more than one movie to tell the story? hard to believe in our digital age we live in

We just watched it in 3D HFR this morning after I saw it 24 fps. I like the higher frame rate, but they can keep the 3d.

Still liked the movie much better than what the critics were saying.

I may be a little late here, and I have never read the books, but is this how the original book ended? I liked the movie but thought the whole movie was to get their home back, and stooped at the point it may actually happen???

The book is being divided into 3 movies. So you have only seen 1/3 of the story.

Yeah, December of this year for #2, then June/July 2014 for the finale.

Jackson took some artistic liberties with the story, which is (my guess) one of the reasons why there are 3 movies.

The whole meeting at the last home between Elrond, Galadriel, and Gandalf never happened in the book.

The Radegast scene... never a mention in the book. I think Radegast is actually only mentioned in LOTR Book 1.

The scene where the dwarves are in the tree, didn't happen quite like that in the book either.

With that said, I still thoroughly enjoyed the movie back when I saw it.

Well, the meeting of the White Council does happen and it does happen in the timeframe of The Hobbit. It just isn't depicted in The Hobbit.

I don't think Jackson is making up a lot, he's just tying in a lot of the Histories of Middle Earth and Appendices that take place during this time.
