2. Joey - Dark Elves

Thanks guys. I'd like to thank all those that came out to play as it was a great turn out. I know that 8th presents a few hiccups in tourney format, but it is good practice for the upcoming 2011 events. If anybody has suggestions on how to make the upcoming events go smoother or more interesting, please start a suggestion topic so we can look into it. I'll post results tonite.

What hiccups? What about 8th made tournament format harder than 7th? The scenarios? Change in victory conditions? As I missed it, I'm really interested to hear.

For some reason, very few games got the full 6 turns in 2 hours with 2500 pts. Could be army comp for those armies, newness of the rules, or a combo of all and any reasons. Each game had extra time for set up as well, but maybe need to look at smaller points or go back to limiting choices or staying longer... Don't know yet.

HAHA...yeah, I know that alot of people like that, but I'm not a fan of it. Unless you have a program that can work out the placements for you, then it is hard to do and keep track of correctly. If someone doesn't write down the right score, then it throws everything off. And of course if you know you're out of it, then some people quit or half-ass the game which isn't fun for the other player.

The event was 3 games with scenarios. Game 1 was a pitched battle with the deployment zones as depicted on the map of "Blood and Glory" scenario. Deployment was used with the "Reserves" rule of Meeting Engagement. However, scouts were able to deploy anywhere on the table if by either rolling a 1 as a reserve unit, or by rolling a 6 prior to deployment. Game 2 was a pitched battle using the rules for Dawn Attack. Special scenario was the use of a random character as a Mercenary who bestowed special bonuses and 400 vps to the army. Game 3 was based on the map and rules of The Watchtower in reference to game turn limit. Deployement was determined by repetitive dice rolling and deployment of two units at a time until all units of one army were deployed. Scouts could be deployed anywhere at any time in order to disrupt your opponent's deployment.

The scoring was based on Victory Points accumulated and was compared against a graduated scale in order to determine how many battle points were earned. Difference in player's VPs determined how many battle points were awarded up to 20. There were scenario bonus awards available to help increase your score based on certain game situations. There were 4 available for Games 1 and 2 and 5 available for Game 3. The winning players were determined by whomever had the highest accumulated points (battle plus scenario). Any ties were broken by whomever had accumulated the most actual Victory Points in all three games. The results are as follows:

1. Kelly Wheaton, Dark Elves - 62 pts
2. Joey Jarbeau, Dark Elves - 57 pts
3. Scott Monsour, Lizardmen - 42 pts
4. Kevin Farrell, Warriors of Chaos - 41 pts
5. Kelly Gragg, Dogs of War - 39 pts
6. Eric M., Chaos Dwarfs (Indie list) - 38 pts
7. Jordan, Dark Elves - 37 pts
8. Bill D., Bretonnians - 36 pts
9. Corey S., Skaven - 36 pts
10. Cody S., Empire - 34 pts
11. Mark C., Dark Elves - 28 pts
12. Kevin, Warriors of Chaos - 26 pts
13. Eric L., Dwarfs - 23 pts
14. Harry, Tomb Kings - 22 pts
15. Andy, Warriors of Chaos - 20 pts
16. Matt, High Elves - 17 pts
