Looking outside I see what appears to be a sheet of ice.

How are the roads?

I drove to work in Maryland with little to no problems. Your neighborhood is probably bad, but once you get out onto Braddock and such you'll be fine.

In Herndon, only the side-side roads have anything left on them, and they are still just fine.

Now, getting out of your driveway may be a different story Wink

It's hell. I've already barracaded myself in the apartment, stripped naked and smeared mud all over myself, all while burning furniture to stay warm and keep frigid death at bay. The end is here northern virginia!

But seriously, this morning it was icey on the side roads, and even that was melted/almost melted by noon.

What a snowstorm! Hope everyone is safe.

Took me 4 hours getting home. A ride that takes 15-20 minutes.

Roads suck this morning, turned around and went home taking a snow day...Lee Hwy is sort of cleared except for all of the abandoned cars Very Happy

I worked from home, so no worries for me.

HOWEVER, took my wife 8 hours to get from Tysons Corner to Ashburn

Yeah it took my wife 6.5 hours to get home last night. Of course, they claimed bus service would continue until 9 PM or "until everyone made it home". Bullshit. They cut off service at 6 PM.

Considering I had to slog out in the snow to get her (and 3 other people) from the park and ride, well...

We made it safely home, and only got stuck once. Lots of abandoned cars vehicles and stuck people.

Next time, she leaves at noon instead of 3 PM. The snow already had a solid hour to start before the Fed released people, and it was doing about 2 inches an hour.

Five and a half hours for me, on a trip where the normal commute is 25 minutes. Good thing I had a big mug in the car left over from my morning coffee. I filled it twice on the way home.

Took me two and a half hours getting from Fairfax to Centreville. ONLY reason I was able to get home last night and not turn back to stay at work was because of knowing backroads. If I had taken my usual route, I would have easily been in traffic 5-6 hours. It took Liz 6 hours to get back to the apartment.
