He gave me a crap load of business cards and now I can't find them. I'm having a senior moment and drawing a blank on his name, too. It'll hit me as I try to sleep tonight. _________________ Thanks,

I know that Games Parlor is in as it is up to us to to put it on...They are just a place with tables basically. Game Vault, Culpeper C&G, Gainesville C&G, there is a store in Charlottesville that I can get in touch with....there is Brian's store in Martinburg, West Virginia...and I'm sure there are others, trying to keep that 2 hour and under travel time theme. |
I think this would be awesome. It would allow us to experience other stores and get a better regional community, something like a "circuit" as some other areas have.
As I see it, there would be several benefits:
An obvious one from a tournament sense -- it would grow the regional player pool and comfort level with those players. As Frank said, better competition and preparation for those who are traveling to larger tourneys or tourneys with regional representation.
A benefit for more casual players like myself. I generally don't have the time, means, or frankly desire to travel to the larger tournaments further away (playing the same army over and over just doesn't interest me like it does others). However, this would allow the more casual gamers guaranteed games, something to play for (in a regional sense, accumulating points for your "home store" or team), and the social side of the tournament scene within a 2 hour drive.
Plus, the stores would benefit from this, as they are bringing in players from the area that normally would not be patronizing their store. And, a bit selfishly, perhaps we could drop hints to GPC at how well other stores support their players, and thus the willingness for those players to financially support the store.
In short: great idea! |

I'm in Warrenton, so this is closer to me than Game Vault.
Is this store related to Comics and Gaming of Fairfax? _________________ An articulate soul, trapped in an inarticulate shell

They have started up a fantasy and 40k league. Follow on Facebook. Mix of new players, old players, and in between. _________________ Thanks,

Cool, I'll have to try and check them out. How is their stock of gaming stuff other than Magic and Comics?
Also, do they have dedicated gaming tables or do they have to set up whenever someone wants to game? _________________ An articulate soul, trapped in an inarticulate shell

They just opened 4 months ago, so their stock on Games Workshop is low. They have 40K and Fantasy stuff up front and plan to build their stock as more Warhammer Players come in to support the need. They will order anything that you want and do offer discounts.
They have 2 gaming tables available for games, but will set up tables as needed. For events, they have a vacant store next door that they use. Its very nice and I'm looking to put on a mixed event of Fantasy and 40K in June. The 40K will be run by Andy (Headgasket). _________________ Thanks,

I think we should do a team event with a 4th player teamed with a Fantasy Player. Played separate tournaments and score combined for a team score also??? _________________ Joey

I'll be available for some games of Fantasy in about 2 weeks. This is my finals week coming up so I am booked for Homework...
After that, I wouldn't mind getting a few games in if you don't mind playing against someone whose only had one game of 8e and hasn't really plaved since 5th... That, and I just finished assembling my High Elves, so they are still Grey...
I'll also have a Dwarf Army assembled in a few weeks as well.
Gonna try and get down to the store today to check it out. _________________ An articulate soul, trapped in an inarticulate shell

Come on down. I play anybody and 80% of my stuff is a beautiful Confederate Gray so no worries here about that. My biggest problem now is getting time to play. _________________ Thanks,
