Hey Gene!
Thanks again for the lift. Had a great time. 1 minor win, two losses, and three really bloody games.
Highlight of the tournament: me having three blocks six inches from the high elf 40 white lions with banner of the world dragon with 3 character AND the Ariel special character at the top of turn one *and* my opponent backing up!
Low point of the same tournament! Having longbeards in that same unit's front, a hoard of greatweapon warriors in his flank AND hammerers in the rear AND I STILL COULDN'T BREAK HIM.
Ah well, great times!
Thanks again.

It ended up being just me and Gene. I did reasonably well I thought.
My first opponent was lizardmen. I ended up getting a minor win (11-9). However, we only go to the bottom of turn 3. My opponent said he hadn't played warhammer in a while, and I admittedly was a little rusty. Still, it was a very friendly and easy going game. What sticks out in my head was that neither of our units were terribly into it. We were failing charges left and right. Although, I will admit that a few of those charges that he failed were by design since I had my rune of slowness. Still, a win is a win.
Game 2 was again High Elves. I rolled a six for my ancestral grudge. I was very happy to see that, although in the end I am not sure that it really mattered. He had a couple small groups of archers, a couple of sisters, an eagle, 4 bolt throwers, and 40(!) white lions with the BotWD. I really think he wasn't ready for 3 blocks of dwarfs barreling down on him. He even backed up because he said, he didn't know that he could take it on. Anyhow, I already told you my tale of woe. With the Everqueen in the unit, the BSB and 2 other characters. I whittled him down, but in the end, he ate all of my longbeards and nearly all my hammerers (which were in his rear). That was one tough unit. In the end, I lost 6-14, but I was only 8 points away from keeping it to a 9-11. Still a respectable showing by the dwarfs.
Game 3 was against Skaven. I really thought I had this since he was not expecting me to be 6 inches from his lines by the bottom of turn 1. Still it was a hard fought game. He had a convincing win (6-14), but I did get his grey seeer in the end, plus his most expensive unit of plague monks.
All of my opponents seemed a bit surprised by the Vanguarding Dwarf List, and all said that it was a nice change from they usually expect a dwarf player to bring.
Interesting, there were 2 dwarf players at the event and we tied for favorite opponent.
Dwarfs, who'd a thunk it?

As I'm bringing Dwarfs to NoVA as well, what's in your list? _________________ Thanks,

Awesome!
I'll post my list to the tactics section of the forums. I am torn between two slightly different lists. Still, either will be a nice departure from the dreaded dwarf gunline.
