So, looking at GQ since NOVA is this coming weekend, I was wonderimg what mosters you guys were looking at taking? I only have access to the Storm of Magic book so I dont have an idea what the ones in Monsterous Arcana ones look like.
The ones im contemplating are in order of preference:
Hydra- (mainly cuz I have the model) but coming in at 235 it has a Str 5 autohiting shot. Along with regen.
Dragon- 300 points for S/T/W of 6, has 5 attacks 3+ AS, Terror, Fly and my choice of breath weapon. (Also have a model)
After these I am contemplating:
Fenbeasts, 4 of them giving you a S/T5, W4, A3, 3+ Regen Unbreakable tarpit.
Great Chaos Spined Beast
Any I should look at in the MA book?

Keep in mind FenBeasts are unstable, although 3+ regen would be sweet.
The other book has some good monsters but they are more expensive.
I like Great Chaos Spawn, Giant Chaos Spined Beast, PagroWyrm and the Nightmare Colosus thing.
If you use fire magic the taurus is quite good.
I also like the idea of just taking 2 saber tusks, but thats more because my army has shitty redirectors that cant march. |

I looked at the book, and I also like the Basilisk. Thoughts on that?

It can potentially kill a ton, but its a ton of points, has no ward, and might be very hard to keep alive.
Most intriguing monster by far though. I think it works off In, so if you have shadow it's even better. |

So the Storm Dragon's breath weapon wounds on what ever the targets armor save is. But it does not specify a str value for the breath attack nor if it has a -AS to it. How would you guys interpret this?

If it doesn't specify anything, then they get their full armor save.
