I called Game Parlor and confirmed that 'Ard Boyz Round 1 is going to be at their store this Saturday, 08/13/11.

This just happened this week. It is official although very short notice. A good chance to advance.

Not a clue. The fellow I spoke to at GP said he had all the paperwork from GW, but he doesn't know who's actually running the tourney.

In the past, someone from the IFL has run it. GP tends to be as hands-off as possible when it comes to tournaments. I expect they probably assume one of us will be running it.

I told Cindy last week that we weren't running it and that GP wasn't even on the GW schedule. I told her to contact her GW Rep and that it was the store that needed to run it and get prize support, etc. She said that Craig, their "buyer" would be putting it together. Confused Question

I am out of town this weekend or I would offer to help. I hope it goes well.

Craig was the guy I talked to yesterday, and he said he didn't know who was running it. I hope he figures out that he's supposed to be running it.

The IFL guys mentioned that Craig/Greg told them we were running it. Unless Casey or Richard decided to do it, I don't know where he got his information (meaning Craig/Greg or whoever)...

I'm going to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and assume that this was arranged down Woodbridge way, then got lost in the shuffle between the store move and then closing.

Someone should probably make it clear that they can't assume that we'll run stuff like this: not that we won't, just that talking to us is the first step in getting us to run stuff for them. Heck, I'd be fine with jumping on this particular grenade, but (thanks to the short notice) I've got other plans.

Oh, I am not implying there was any type of shenanigans going on, just that there is some sort of miscommunication, most likely through an assumption.

In most circumstances, I know there are people who would happily run this sort of thing (like you, Rich), but as you said this was on extremely short notice, which isn't conducive to being able to.

Well Games Parlor didn't even know about it. Cindy called me Thursday and asked me if we were doing the Ard Boyz event. I told her no and that it was something that she needed to contact her GW rep about. She told me that a customer called her at the store and had asked about it and that they had heard that GP was having one. While she was on phone with me I checked the GW website and told her that GP was not on the list of event hosts. I told her that she would have to get GW involved if they wanted to host it for prize support and results. I told her it was 40K and I had no idea about it. She then told me Tuesday night that Craig "her Buyer" had made arrangements to host the Ard Boys event. So, my explanation of this is to illustrate that it only happened over the last couple of days so I don't know who (IFL or other) would have "instigated" this. This, to me, is a fupa on GP's part to try to get in on something, but not knowing the details. I believe that someone got Game Vault and Game Parlor confused when calling Cindy...and thus confusing her. I think it will be a good way to get people to advance as there may be no one there to play. Wink If enough people come out, then just play friendly games and use the outcomes to determine a winner. Rule by committee. Idea
